Driving about 272 kilometers from Hanoi capital along National Highway No.3, you can reach Cao Bang, which is surrounded by lakes, karst peaks, caves, minority villages and the Ban Gioc Waterfall on the Chinese border. 1. Pac Bo Cave
Pac Bo Cave is the most prominent attraction in Cao Bang, which is the original point of Vietnam revolution because it cements the special important historical period in the life of Uncle Ho and Vietnam revolution since 1941-1945. The cave is located about 58 kilometers from Cao Bang city to the northwest and surrounded by evergreen forests filled with butterflies and birdsong, and overlooked by limestone mountains. If you are interested in Vietnamese history during war period, Pac Bo Cave will be an ideal destination for you when traveling Vietnam. This is a place where Ho Chi Minh lived for a few weeks in 1941, writing poetry and translating key texts of socialism.

2. Ban Gioc Waterfall
Ban Gioc Waterfall is a famous tourist spot in Cao Bang, which own breathtaking scenery and a lot of beautiful landscapes surrounding. The waterfall is an ideal place to enjoy fresh and quiet atmosphere and contemplate spectacular natural beauty.

Located in the southeastern Cao Bang Province, the waterfall is 30 meters high and 300 meters wide, making Ban Gioc is the widest but not the highest waterfall in Vietnam. From a distance, you can see the charming but majestic beauty of Ban Gioc waterfall. Standing at the foot of the fall, you will feel relaxed and pleasant atmosphere made by water fog flying up. The best time to visit the fall is from September to October, when the summer rains that feed the waterfall are less frequent and harvest is in full swing. Because Ban Gioc is located right on Chinese border, foreign travelers used to be required a special permit to visit the area. But today, you can just turn up and buy a ticket (about 25 000VND) at the kiosk without any document at all and then you can fully visit and admire the beauty of Ban Gioc Waterfall.
3. Nguom Ngao Cave
Just about 3 kilometers from Ban Gioc Waterfall, Nguom Ngao is considered one of the most beautiful caves of Cao Bang Province. It is really an amazing cave, huge and attractive with various shaped stalactites. Nguom Ngao Cave is 2144 meters long and 60 meters high with three main entrances namely Nguom Ngao, Nguom Lom and Ban Thuon. The nature has endow the cave with vivid and unique seven-colored stalactites which look like human beings, trees, plants and mythical animals.

Cave’s roof is continuously closed and open, giving tourists a big surprise. Stalactites inside the cave seem to grow from the soil, or hang down, vertical or horizontal with 12px and big figures piled and fixed in a hustle. Inside the cave is covered by fanciful and harmonious scenery of stone and water. Nguom Ngao Cave is recognized a national beauty of nature by the Ministry of Culture and Information, attracting a lot of people to visit, both domestic and foreign tourists.
5. Thang Hen Lake
Located about 25km far from Cao Bang Town, Thang Hen Lake is luckily blessed with charming landscapes of green trees, blue water and the bending lozenge shape around the valley. The lake has a length of 3000 meters and a width of 1000 meters, and consists of 36 stunning lakes on the mountains. Across the lake is a big cave named Thang Hen Cave, from which flows into the lake, so in the rainy season, Thang Hen lake is till blue while other lakes’ water become red in color. In the mass of mountains, beautiful scenery with rows of trees rising from steep cliffs and reflecting themselves on the very blue water surface which curve round the heart of a valley with rough subterranean rocks creates a breathtaking landscape painting.
